Anyone else a fan of this series? I have to say it's my absolute fave right now. I haven't read the final trade yet, but I can't wait to see how everything ends. Supposedly it's in the works for a movie with Shia LaBoeuf, and while I think he would be a half-way decent choice, the storyline would get totally ripped to shreds to shrink this into a two hour long movie. Thoughts?

Whenever a new issue of Y would come out, it would go straight to the bottom of my stack (I save the best for last). It's one of the few comics that my wife would regularly read. The last issue of the series is absolutely perfect. I really need to sit down and reread that series.

Much like Preacher and Transmetropolitan, the only way to do this series properly in other media is with a HBO series. I'm pretty sure Vaughn is doing the movie script though, so it will probably be good.

    /Threadjack

I bloody loved Preacher and Transmetropolitan.

I've never read Y: The last man but i've heard nothing but good things about it. I also like the fact that it had a definitive arc which is encouraging to know when you want to get into stuff after the fact.Never go with a hippie to a second location.

I've never read Y, but I know the concept and it sounds really amazing. The only problem is, there are so many issues it would cost me an arm and a leg to buy them all at once.Book: If you take sexual advantage of her, you're going to burn in a very special level of Hell. A level they reserve for child molesters and people who talk at the theater.

@Not Mandatory: that's what Trade Paperbacks are for.

i haven't read the last trade either, but i totally love the series. Preacher is my all-tim fave graphic novel. i know nothing of Trnasmetropolitan. what's it about? who wrote it? who does the art?Mal: Well look at this..appears we got her just in the nick of time what does that make us? Zoe: Big Damn Heroes! Mal: Ain't we just.

Transmet was written by Warren Ellis, art by Darick Robertson. It's about a journalist in the future who is forced out of retirement to cover a presidential election (or something like that, it's been a while since I read it). The whole book is basically Ellis vomiting ridiculously awesome future concepts and political commentary. Selling point: the main character, Spider Jerusalem (who is basically Ellis), carries a bowel disruptor gun.

Y was pretty good. There are plenty of flaws though. More and more as my friends read it and we discuss it. But I'm glad I read it.

Though, that just forces me to be interested in the film version, undoubtedly headed by Shia LeDouche.

side note: Gina Torres as 355?Move over, bananas! I've got a new source of potassium!

Perfect casting for 355. If Shia gets Yorick I'm fucking out. I think Yorick should be an unknown and I think the only way to do justice to the series is a trilogy or TV mini-series (with a budget, none of that ABC The Stand bullshit).

I finally got to read the entire series in a week thanks to my kickass local library. It has it's flaws but it is still one of the most amazing series I have ever read. You try the best you can. The best you can is good enough.
