Posted By: FerrosRevenge of the Sith was on TV last night. I ended up watching bits and pieces of it and some really frustrating things stuck out to me. Lucas did a pretty good job of tying up lose ends so that they lead into Episode 4 well enough. After the infamous and awful "I have the high ground" moment Obi Wan picks up Anakin's lightsaber and walks away explaining how he has it in Ep. 4, Captain Antilles (Presumably Wedge Antilles father), a few little moments here and there with Bail Organa. All the stuff i appreciate when you're building a mythology.
I assume everyone remember Yoda's famous line "Do or do not, there is no try." from Empire. There's a moment just before the duel between Anakin and Obi-Wan when Anakin says "You're either with me or you're against me." With Obi-Wan's reply being "Only Sith deal in absolutes." To me doesn't this clash with Yoda's statement a fair bit if absolutes are Sith talk why is Yoda using them, that's just sloppy writing when in other minor cases Lucas covered himself pretty well. Don't even get me started on Yoda's fleeing from the final battle with the Emperor, i know we need Yoda on Dagobah and the Emperor alive but the character they'd established for Yoda doesn't lend itself to self pity which you clearly see when he's escaping with Bail Organa talking about failure. When Yoda walks into the chamber with the Emperor he's very much in a "It's you or me" type of mood, why does he run away?Never go with a hippie to a second location.
